Magic Eraser
The Magic Eraser Tool is used to automatically erase a continuous area of similar color in an image. It uses the same
flood fill technique as the
paint bucket to flood into neighboring pixels of similar color. Instead of changing the color of the pixels the magic eraser sets the pixels to transparent. Like the paint bucket tool the pixel that is clicked is used to determine the color that should be erased and the area that is affected. Like the
background eraser tool, the magic eraser is a color based eraser tool.
The magic eraser is a one click tool. You simply click the area of color you want to erase and the image editor takes over from there. Where the erased area expands to is completely dependent on tool settings and other than that you have no control over it. This automatic action may lead to unexpected results and you may have to undo the edit, adjust the tool settings and use the tool again.
For a more predictable outcome the magic eraser is best used when the color in the area you wish to erase is similar, has a well defined contour and is highly contrasting with the area that shouldn't be erased.
