The elliptical marquee tool is used to create elliptical or circular selections in your image. It allows you to restrict edits to a specific elliptical or circular area, making it easier to apply changes precisely. You can also use the selection to cut or copy and paste elliptical or circular areas within your image.
2. How the Elliptical Marquee Works
The elliptical marquee tool works by allowing you to click and drag on your image to create an elliptical or circular selection. Once the selection is made, any edits you apply will only affect the selected area, ensuring precise modifications.
2.1 Choosing the Elliptical Marquee
To activate the elliptical marquee tool in the editor click the tool icon in the toolbar. The elliptical marquee tool icon is an ellipse with a dashed line border. Activating the tool loads the tool options bar with the settings for the elliptical marquee.
2.2 Creating an Elliptical or Circular Selection
With the elliptical marquee tool selected, click and drag on your image to create an elliptical or circular selection. The selection will appear as a dashed outline indicating the area that is selected.
You can adjust the size and position of the selection by dragging the edges or moving the selection within the image. This allows you to precisely select the area you want to work with.
